Faith makes a difference - showcasing Birmingham's inspirational approach to Religious Education. This month films for faith leaders and parents are being edited.


Transition, a DVD-based training resource, has enjoyed a glittering launch at Birmingham's Electric Cinema. The big screen preview was made extra special when Nadine Daniels sang the theme song live - a star to look OUT for in the future!

Birmingham Standing Advisory Council for RE has launched Faith makes a difference. Council member and school adviser Sue Fearon said "we would never have believed how much difference these films would make when we set out".

BY RAIL

From New St Station

Exit New Street Station from the Victoria Square entrance/exit. Turn left at exit and walk down Navigation Street, crossing over the pedestrian crossing at the junction with Hill Street. Continue down Navigation Street and walk under the Suffolk Street Queensway road bridge, towards the Mailbox. Go up the steps into the Mailbox and continue all the way through until you come out the other side. Once out, keep to the left and pass the Ramada Hotel, Zizzi's, Bar Room Bar etc and carry on to the bridge that takes you down to the canalside. Once on the canalside you'll go past the Panama Bar on your left. Once past the Panama Bar look out for an opening on to Gas St. Turn right on to Gas St and the next house you come to is no 46, big red door - that's us.

From Snow Hill Station

Exit Snow Hill from the main entrance and turn right on to Colmore Row. Walk down Colmore Row to Victoria Square. Cross over Victoria Square and turn left down Hill Street, past Swallow Street, until you reach Navigation Street. Turn right into Navigation Street, continue down Navigation Street and walk under the Suffolk Street Queensway road bridge. Continue as above.

From Moor St Station

Exit Moor Street Station and cross over Moor Street Queensway. Walk up Carrs Lane and turn left on to High Street. Walk down the High Street and turn right into New Street. Walk up New Street and then turn left onto Stephenson Street. Turn left into Navigation Street, walking down Navigation Street, crossing over the pedestrian crossing at the junction with Hill Street. Continue down Navigation Street and walk under the Suffolk Street Queensway road bridge. Continue as above.

BY BUS

Buses leaving city via Hagley Road and Five Ways pass Gas Street. Nearest bus stops: International Convention Centre.

BY ROAD

The nearest motorway access is from M6, Junction 6, Spaghetti Junction or M5, Junction 3. From M6, follow signs to the City Centre and towards exit from city in the direction (briefly) A38 towards Bromsgrove. Bear left onto the A41. Bear left at Paradise Circus Queensway, take the exit onto the A456, towards The South West, M5, Wolverhampton. This is Broad Street. See the International Convention Centre (R) and Hyatt Hotel (L). Gas Street is second left having entered Broad Street.

From M5, take A456 towards Birmingham City Centre, this becomes Broad Street as you enter the central zone, see Five Ways, cinemas bars and clubs.

Gas Street is on right, see signs for ITV. You can turn right into Gas Street. Gas Street is ONE WAY and must be entered from Broad Street. There is limited street parking and change is needed (currently £2.40 for four hours) for pay and display meters. Alternative parking in The Mailbox (follow train directions- see New Street route) or Five Ways traffic island, passing Gas Street and re-tracing steps on foot having parked (5 minute walk).
